CALL FOR PAPERS

We have the pleasure in inviting you to the British Accounting and
Finance Association Northern Area Group & Interdisciplinary Special
Interest Group Annual Conference at the University of Durham on
Thursday & Friday 30, 31st August 2012. The conference aims to provide
participants with the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, to
discuss new concepts and progressive methodologies, and to present
their current research work.

Keynote Speakers

Professor Marc Goergen

Professor Marc Goergen holds a chair in finance at Cardiff Business
School, Cardiff University. His main research interests are in
corporate governance and corporate control, IPOs, corporate investment
models, M&As, insider trading, human capital issues across corporate
governance systems and dividend policy. He has papers published in a
number of academic journals, including European Financial Management,
Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial
Intermediation and Journal of Law, Economics & Organization. He has
also (co-)written three research monographs on corporate governance, a
textbook on corporate governance and has contributed chapters to
several edited books. Marc is a Research Associate of the European
Corporate Governance Institute. Topic to be presented in the
conference ”Trust, Owner Rights, Employees and Firm Performance”

Professor Prem Sikka

Professor Prem Sikka interdisciplinary research is published in
international peer reviewed journals and he has also authored a number
of books and monographs. His research specialisms include
globalisation, governance, regulation, tax havens, insolvency and
business ethics. He is a regular contributor to newspapers, magazines
and other media outlets. Because of his expertise and critical
assessment of the financial and business world, Prem was named on the
Financial Power List of 2010. Further, in 2008 he was given the
Working for Justice Award by the Tax Justice Network and also received
the Lifetime Achievement Award from PQ Magazine

Parallel Sessions

The plenary sessions will be followed by parallel sessions for
research paper presentations.

Call for Papers

Papers are welcome from all areas of accounting and finance.
Submissions can range from early working drafts to fully developed
papers. Please submit via email a 250-word abstract of your proposed
submission to Dr Amir Michael (email:
a.e.iskander@dur.ac.uk) by 25th July
your abstract should be in an attached Word file.

Selection will be undertaken by a committee of reviewers in the
International Accounting & Auditing Studies Group, Durham Business
School, Durham University. The authors will be notified of their
decision by 31st July.

Full versions of accepted abstracts should be submitted by 20th
August. Papers will be available on the conference website shortly
after the submission deadline.

Fees (The fees will cover conference registration and pack, lunch for
the two days, tea, coffee and biscuits, transportation between Ushaw
College and accommodation and dinner in Ushaw College (World Heritage
(http://www.ushaw.ac.uk/index.html). Accommodation fee is not included)

£175 for members or £205 for non-members (to include annual membership)
£175 for PhD students or £190 for non-members (to include annual membership)

Accommodation:
The organiser has held a limited number of rooms in the University of
Durham “Grey College” for delegates attending this event. The rate for
single bed and breakfast in an en-suite room is £35.00 per night
including VAT.
